Gugulethu Sofia Mbatha is better popular under her stage and screen names Gugu Mbatha Raw. Her popularity grew for her role in the BBC science fiction TV series Doctor Who. The Chelsea Handler Show lasted two years. Handler then followed up with doing a show in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour and within the United States. The stand-up shows she has performed were telecast on VH1 as well as Comedy Central's Premium Blend and HBO. In 2010, she was confirmed as host of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. In doing so, she became the first female host in history after Roseanne.
